Revolt of a Mother and Yellow Wallpaper

Both texts, Revolt of a Mother and The Yellow Wallpaper touch on the roles of women, in the domestic sense to be exact. In the Yellow Wallpaper, the female character wanted to simply write, wanted to express her creative side but she was not allowed to do so. She was in no way interested in the domestic life that women were usually subjected to. Her husband was incredibly controlling. His way of keeping her in this situation was locking her away in a room. He thought that she was in a depressed state and thought that this would be the best place for her when in reality, she was in no way in such a state. In Revolt of a mother. the female character was the complete opposite. She was completely fine with taking the typical role of a woman during those times, which included everything from maintaining the household: cooking, and cleaning, as well as well as trying to keep a happy marriage. All that she wanted, and needed was a house for the family to live. She always served and put her family first in order to get this but in the end, she did not get what she desired.
