Armory

The Armory show of 1913 is an example of modernism because of the new way that artwork was being expressed. Some of the examples that created this new form of artwork was the way that artists created lines and dimensions in sculptures, creating similarities to artworks from other artist before them, just expressed in a new dimensional way. The architecture that was being presented was very intricate in the sculptures, and one of the key things was to move away from the classic, ordinary form that so many artists still kept in their work.

When it comes to the sculpture, Lucifer by Andrew Darsburg, it shows many different sides of an individuals face. The lines that the artist created to express the many side of Lucifer is similar to Hemingway's character Krebs because of the description that the author gives to this one individual. There is so much that can be seen with just the facial appearance and when personality is tied, there may be some similarities to the meaning of the name. In the case of the sculpture, Lucifer, one an tie evil to it and when reading the description of Kreb in Hemigway's book, we get to see how hard his past has been.

When it comes to paintings, the artists were expressing new events, action events, or in other cases expressed a new form of reality. The art that was being painted were everyday objects, just shown in a different light. It can be seem as a new way of how one views the world. The attention was being given to ordinary things but being given a spotlight to a different view in order for the viewer to see a different perspective to it.

A painting by john Sloan, Sunday, Women drying their hair, expresses women doing a simple task. An important factor is that women are being centered. When it comes to Hemingway, there are few glimpses of women that are portrayed. Even though there are few glimpses, they definitely make a statement when they are in the scene.
